Your wedding ceremony is a celebration of your unique love story, the joining of your families and a commitment to building your life together.
Whether you are planning a secret elopement or a gathering of hundreds, I would like to work with you to understand why, what and how you want to celebrate so that we can create an event that aligns with your values and reflects your story and your relationship. I am particularly interested in creating celebrations that embrace your community – the inclusion of cultural rituals, the LGBTQI community and family traditions.
As part of my services I provide the following:
- As many meetings as are required to create the ceremony you want
- Completion of all legal documents and registration of your marriage
- Guidance in creating a personalised ceremony script including access to my collection of wedding readings, blessings and poems
- Rehearsal ceremony
- Assistance in setting up and conducting a professional and meaningful ceremony
- Information about wedding service providers (venues, hairdressers, caterers, beauticians, counsellors etc.) if marrying in the Bellingen area.
I am part of a generation in which many of us rejected the ceremony of marriage because we felt alienated by religious institutions and found traditions oppressive. Now in my fifties, I’m so impressed by the way the next generation have reinvented weddings to make them their own, holding on to the joyful and meaningful parts and ditching traditions that don’t work for them. To say the words ‘Marriage, according to law in Australia, is the union of two people to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life.’ is momentous. I am delighted to be part of the civil marriage celebrancy which puts people and families at the centre and lets them choose to incorporate as much or as little as they want from the world’s traditions and religions.
I want you to feel that you are in safe, capable and creative hands from when we first meet to your wedding day. To that end I devote a lot of time to crafting the script for your ceremony, meeting with you as often as it takes to get an understanding of your relationship and exactly what you want. Once I have drafted your wedding ceremony, I send you the draft and then make any changes you want and wherever possible arrange a rehearsal so that you know exactly what is going to happen on your wedding day.
My goal is to create a warm and joyous event for you and your guests. A celebration with all the happiness that word entails, that you look back on as one of the best days of your life.
